According to Transport for London (TfL) there have been nine serious incidents on Archway Road in the past two years. We understand this is a busy thoroughfare used for journeys in and out of London, but we believe that the safety of all road users and pedestrians should be considered. That is why we are asking for your views on what should be done to help reduce speed to make this road safer.
In response to the concerns raised we have launched a new petition to help us press Transport for London (TfL) and Haringey Council to install a new pedestrian crossing near the Sainsbury’s store. A new crossing at this point will provide a safe route benefiting residents on both sides of Archway Road as well as local businesses.
We have also already received some suggestions to reduce speed from speaking to residents, such as:
- Reducing the speed limit to 20mph
- Vehicle activated flashing speed signs
As your local Liberal Democrat team, Paul Dennison, Cllr Liz Morris and Cllr Bob Hare, we want to hear your views on Archway Road so that we can help to campaign to reduce speeds on your road.
