Over a year ago the Liberal Democrats wrote to the Cabinet Member for the Environment & Climate Change, calling on Haringey's Labour-run council to remove single-use plastics from council buildings.
Despite the council declaring a Climate Emergency in March 2019 and agreeing to look into the use of plastics in council buildings, single-use plastics continue to be distributed.
Liberal Democrat councillors believe that this the latest example of the Council’s inertia on environmental matters.
We, the undersigned, call for Haringey Council to immediately stop using disposable plastics where alternatives are already available and announce it will phase them out across all council buildings within 3 months.
