Four anti-Semitic councillors is four too many

In response to the discovery of anti-Semitic statements by Preston Tabois, councillor for Tottenham Green and Labour GLA candidate, including an apparent endorsement of a conspiracy theory denying the historical reality of the Holocaust, Cllr Luke Cawley-Harrison (Crouch End), leader of Haringey Liberal Democrats, comments that:

“These anti-Semitic comments from Cllr Tabois have absolutely no place in our society. Haringey Labour must urgently explain not only how a Holocaust denier was able to become one of their councillors, but why their institutional culture is so inviting to anti-Jewish racists.

“Be a team-player” Haringey Lib Dem Spurs fans tell club

Haringey Lib Dem Spurs fans are calling on their club’s management to waive a £30,000 bill for hosting a food bank. During the early stages of the Covid-19 lockdown, Haringey Council ran an emergency food distribution hub from the car park of the team’s stadium. Press reports indicate that as a result, the club is charging the Council for cleaning and security costs.

Sending a letter is no substitute for decent sick pay for care workers

Labour councillors have voted down a proposal by Lib Dem councillors to ensure that contracted care workers have the same entitlement to sick pay as Council staff. They opted instead to write a letter to the Government on the issue.
