Protect our environment

Haringey’s Labour run council claims to be “Green” but fails on several counts:

  1. Recycling Rates – Haringey borough only recycles a pitiful 35% of its waste putting it in the bottom third for recycling rates.
  2. Street bins – The majority of street bins across Haringey are single-use general waste bin not the double general waste/Recycling combo that other boroughs have.
  3. Air Pollution – London’s air quality is coming into sharp focus lately with the Labour Mayor failing several of his own targets.

Haringey Liberal Democrats are campaigning for combination bins across the borough to allow all residents and visitors to dispose of their waste responsibly.

We would look to create “No-Idle Zones” outside areas with vulnerable people, such as schools, to stop the harmful effect of the fumes emitted by vehicles.

However we want to hear your views on all green issues, so that we can improve your environment and the future environment for all. Please answer the following 7 questions to allow us to make changes that you, our residents, want to see.

Do you think Haringey is doing enough on "green" issues?
