Haringey Lib Dems brought a motion before Full Council on 18 Mar 2019 for School Streets to be introduced in every primary school in the borough asap, and at the latest, before the end of this administration. Where it wasn't possible for a school to have a School Street, no-idle zones would be introduced.

Haringey Labour refused, and instead amended the motion, so they are only committed to producing a written report on School Streets by March 2020.
But this School Streets Report has never materialised, and Haringey has only one school street across the entire borough. Meanwhile Brent has rolled out 30 new School Streets this September, with Hackney on course for 40.
We believe that children cannot wait any longer and that we must take action today by bringing in School Streets immediately. That's why we are calling for children, parents, teachers and schools to support our petition for Haringey to work cross-party, with schools, parents, community groups and residents to make School Streets happen now!
